The Formez Guide-lines for Training Public Managers in Europe was distributed at the FORUM PA 2007

28/05/2007 - What training must future European public trainers possess in order to face the changes taking place in European Public Administration? This is the aim of the project EU-FORMA, which is jointly financed by the Leonardo da Vinci Programme and coordinated by Gianni Agnesa from the Cagliari branch of Formez.
Other partners are the Andalusian Institute of Public Administration, the prestigious European Institute of Public Administration in Maastricht, ISMO in Milan and the Romanian PA Training School.
EU-FORMA is above all involved in training managers who work in regional and local administrations. Ad-hoc training guide-lines were laid down by taking into account how member states are evolving: their missions, roles, organizations, networks.
The focus of local administrations emerges from the fact that these form the largest number in each European country who have the most contact with the territories and the citizens. These often have less resources available and therefore are not always able to sustain the costs for research and experimentation.
The countries interested in the projects are: Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, UK, Romania and Spain. In particular, 23 PA and 21 PA training institutes are involved.
EU-FORMA was an occasion for exchange and discussion and has confirmed yet again the institute’s capacities to promote innovative and system actions at supranational level.
The publication of the “Guidelines for Training Manager in European Regional and local Authorities” contains the results of the work undertaken and was presented at the Forum PA 2007.
