JORDAN - Institutional Strengthening for the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission

Objectives:
The project is intended to contribute to the development of the Jordanian telecommunications sector as regards the telecommunications markets, competitive environment, as well as the quality and quantity of the telecommunications services. The specific aim of the project is to support the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission in developing its regulatory framework, and operational capacities in line with the international standards and EU best practices.

Results:
The expected results from the Twinning project are:

  • Prepare a comprehensive approach for Migration to Next Generation Networks (NGN) in Jordan (technical, operational and regulatory aspects)  
  • Implement of specific market review remedies and revision of all TRC regulations related to such remedies.
  • Elaborate a transition plan to digital broadcasting and exploitation of digital dividend.
  • Develop a regulatory regime compatible with the EU regulatory framework and capable of dealing with convergence issues updated. 
  • Enhance the capacity of the TRC staff in the field of Electronic Authentication and Electronic Signature.
