A New Project on Cultural Heritage Management has been awarded in Georgia
The Project is led by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities in partnership with the Agenzia Nazionale Italiana per le NuoveTecnologie, l'Energia e l'Ambiente (ENEA) and the Heritage Agency of Denmark.
The Project lasting for 18 months, aims at strengthening the administrative and technical capacity of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia, thus increasing the capacity of providing high quality services for the protection, conservation and management of national museums, as well as ensuring a new and more effective normative and regulatory framework.
In the light of the activities envisaged, the following expected results are intended to be pursued:
- Definition of an effective administrative and management model of the national cultural heritage
- Definition of a legislative and regulatory framework suited to the current needs of Georgia in the field of protection of cultural heritage
- Capacity and knowledge building of human resources from the Agency and other actors from the sector
The Italian-Danish proposal in the sectors of protection and enhancement of the cultural heritage, was considered to be of particular interest by the beneficiaries and the European Commission.
Italy has gained broad experience and expertise in the sphere of cultural heritage acknowledged at international level, and the Italian model embodies a global and holistic approach for which protection, prevention, enhancement and promotion of the national heritage are tools for managing and developing the territory.
With reference to this project, the Ministry will be supported by the Danish Agency, who shall provide its experience and vision aimed at decentralization and innovation in the sustainable management and use of cultural heritage.
Formez PA’s role will also be crucial in achieving the first result: Through its experience in the support to the reforms and modernization of the PA, both at Italian and international level, the institute will lead the beneficiaries towards the establishment of a more effective management model capable of responding, by means of more appropriate administrative processes, to the new needs determined by deep institutional changes of that area.
