Mission to Algeria

Between July 4th and 6th 2006, the first country mission took place in Algeria in the ambit of the Support Programme for Regional Cooperation – South Mediterranean. The mission was organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Algeri. The delegation presented the three thematic guide-lines which the Italian regions considered to be interesting to be included in projects aimed at Algeria: socio-economic development, in particular with regard to the dairy industry, transport and logistics. Meetings were held with the institutional representatives from the central and local authorities involved, representatives from the Ministries of Agriculture, Transport and Healthcare and the School for Maritime Studies at Abou Ismail. A visit was made to a small business of intensive breeding in the centre of Algeria in order to assess the potential interventions to be carried out in the dairy industry. Durata: 3 days
