Twinning Egypt: Formez Makes its Way to Electronic Communications

To support a complete regulatory framework, to carry out further progress in the sector of electronic communications and regulation of the communication policy are the key objectives of the Twinning Egypt entitled “Twinning Project for National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Egypt” which Formez has been awarded.
The leading structure of the partnership is AGCOM, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, while the foreign partners involved are the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology to entrust the Federal Network Authority and B.&S.U – Beraitungs und Servicegesellschaft Umwelt GmbH - Germany.
In particular, this Twinning project refers to the need to support the development of a complete regulatory framework, thus allowing the final beneficiary NTRA - National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Egypt, to effectively fulfil its mandate as well as to improve efficiency of the regulator by providing capacity building in the areas of competition and regulation.
The areas of activities are legal harmonization, competition and license concession, inter-connection and Unbundling Local Loop, Resource Management, Consumer Protection, universal service and organizational development. Furthermore, this project has the specific objectives to contribute to the growth of Egyptian Telecommunications markets, increase of telecommunication services, enhancing competitive telecommunications environment and granting high quality services in affordable prices for all citizens.
Formez will contribute not only to the financial, administrative and logistic management of the project activities but also to the implementation of the objectives with reference to organizational development by means of its experts .
