Sudgest and Simest have signed an MOU for Managing a Department of Service Provision for Nassirya Businesses
22/01/2006 - The Italian civil commitment in Iraq is now stronger owing to the implementation of a “District” for the development of joint Italian-Iraqi production activities and a large Vocational Training Centre in collaboration with Thi Qar University (Nassirya). A meeting point for Italian and Iraqi businessmen, an exhibition area for products and equipment, technical training courses, maintenance and joint ventures are the services offered by the“Bab Tahir International District”, an Industrial Hotel project, located near Camp Mittica in Nassirya and launched on January 22nd, 2006. At the inauguration, Italian and Iraqi authorities were present on the occasion of a mission of Italian businessmen in Iraq which was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mr Marco Castelletti, Managing Director of Sudgest (an in-house subsidiary of Formez), and Mr Giancarlo Lanna, Chairman of SIMEST (a public company of support to Italian businesses abroad), signed an MOU aimed at managing the district which Sudgest will take responsibility for in the area of training activities. Sudgest has already implemented a number of projects of support to local development and Iraqi administrators.
The agreement between Sudgest and Thi Qar University for the realization of a large Vocational Training Centre was rendered official. The centre was dedicated to training new Iraqi professionals in order to improve the possibility of creating new jobs, and is located in the university campus. It will be provided with IT equipment and technologies which are useful for training and experimenting new work activities. A link via satellite with Italy is foreseen in order to provide long-distance training and assistance.
In order to closely follow these projects and actions in progress, Sudgest - the first Italian company to do so -will inaugurate an administrative branch in Nassirya next month which will employ only local staff.
