Formez is Partner of a European Project on Child Abduction
The Italian SIRENE office (which is part of the Service of International Police Cooperation of the Ministry of the Interior) as the leading structure of a partnership established with the Comando Generale dei Carabinieri, the Central Authority for Juvenile Justice of the Ministry of the Interior, DAC – Anticrime Central Direction of Italian State Police, the Public Security Department- Central Directorate for Training of the Ministry of the Interior, Telefono Azzurro and Formez, has been awarded a European project on child abduction.
The project is financed under a tender published by the European Commission Direction General for Justice, Freedom and Security for submitting pilot projects in the sphere of child abduction.
The applicant countries have been able to submit proposals at international or national level. Amongst the 13 proposals submitted by the member States, the Italian proposal has been classified at the second place amongst international projects and at the first place amongst “national” projects.
The Project “Italian Child Abduction Alert System (ICAAS)" has the objective of realizing a “quick alert” system in the case of child abduction.
The project phases concern the definition and finalization of protocols with Public Administrations, press agencies, televisions and radio broadcasts, the analysis of the systems used for the same purpose in those European countries which are considered to be advanced in the sector, the planning of training and the optimisation of training resources, also including the development of online training activities for operators and NGO mobilization.
Formez will not only participate in the project activities which will be carried out by its experts, but it will also deal with financial management as well as technical and organizational coordination. The total budget amounts to 184.000,00 euros for a project duration of 12 months.
