Study Visit on the Swiss Alert System on Child Abduction

On February 3 2010 to the Swiss SIRENE Office in Bern, a study visit will be held for the purpose of examining the quick alert system in the case of child abduction.
The following bodies will take part in the study visit: The Italian SIRENE Office (a division of the Service for International Police Cooperation of the Ministry of the Interior), leader of a partnership composed of the Comando Generale dei Carabinieri, the Central Authority for Juvenile Justice of the Ministry of Justice,  DAC – Anticrime Central Direction of Italian State Police, the Public Security Department - Central Directorate for Training, Telefono Azzurro and Formez.
During the tour, the following aspects of the Swiss quick alert system will be analysed in depth:

  • The criteria used for the activation of the alert system
  • The authorities in charge of establishing the alert system
  • Tools and technologies for the activation of an alert system
  • Key stakeholders and signing of agreements
  • Staff training, oversight committee and after-action reporting activities for identifying weaknesses, aspects to be improved and contextual system failures
  • The alert procedures to be embarked on at international level
